Total Ocean Care is currently recruiting a Coxswain for the Area of Pittwater (Northern Beaches of Sydney) and the Hawkesbury River.
Title: Coxswain (multidisciplinary experience preferred)
Location: Pittwater, Sydney
Total Ocean Care is currently recruiting for a Coxswain ideally experienced in steering a barge and supervising and coordinating activities of workers on a barge that transport cargo on calm waters as well as operating a crane.
The role includes:
- Directing workers engaged in loading and unloading barge to ensure that cargo handled to maintain safe stability standards.
- Inspecting barge to ensure that vessel is seaworthy.
- Keeping Vessel Log Book up to date.
- Working alongside the team to ensure that construction work is completed to a high standard and in-line with contract specification.
- Liaising with the client, company peers and report to Total Ocean Care’s management to ensure both the client and the company’s requirements are delivered, monitored, documented and reported consistently and to a superior level of proficiency.
Essential:
- Minimum Coxswain Grade 1
- Provide First Aid Certificate
- Master 5 or above qualification
- C6 Crane Machine Ticket
- Provide safe and efficient operation of the barge
- Carry out general barge/machinery repairs and maintenance
- Implement, review, and ensure crew compliance with Safety Management System, company procedures and legislation.
- Ensure the barge are clean, safe and well presented.
- Actively promote the business
- Conduct / organise crew inductions and on-going training, including drills.
- Maintaining communication with the Operations team and other departments within the company.
- Experience with Crane operation
- Experience working around heavy machinery
- Good knowledge of WH&S
- White card
- Computer literacy, competency with MS Office on PC, tablet, and Smartphone platforms
Desirable:
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- MED3
