ESTIMATOR / PROJECT MANAGER in MARINE CONSTRUCTION – SYDNEY

Total Ocean Care is currently seeking an Estimator / Project Manager in Pittwater, Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Title: Estimator / Project Manager in Marine construction/Civil construction (multidisciplinary experience preferred)

Location: Pittwater – Northern Beaches, Sydney, NSW and various locations in Sydney area

Total Ocean Care is currently recruiting for an Estimator / Project Manager experienced in estimating, quoting, planning and managing various construction projects along creek lines/shorelines accessible by a barge. These works include but are not limit to the construction of seawalls, jetty’s, wharf’s, pontoon and boat ramps, seawall stabilisation, marina construction, pier construction, waterfront boardwalks & pedestrian bridges, maritime civil and structural work, waterfront logistics & services.

As an Estimator you will be responsible for assisting with the sourcing, suitable selection and preparation of tenders and quotes; assist with pricing of projects; assist with the compilation and review of tender supporting information tables and appendices; assist with checking, monitoring and timely responding to tender evaluation team (client); assist with set up of quotes in the company’s project management system; read, interpret, and analyse site plans, scope of works, schedules and specifications to determine time, cost, and labour requirements for project works; perform site visits and liaise with stakeholders to assess project requirements and facilitate the estimating process, including preliminary resource orders; Identify risk and opportunities associated with the tender/project; manage the handover of won projects to Project managers & Site Supervisors in conjunction with the Divisional Head.

As a Project Manager you will be responsible for planning, overseeing and leading projects from initial site setup through to completion. This is a senior role and requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders, most often managing several project simultaneously.

THE ROLE INCLUDES:

  • Accurate estimating & Successful preparation and implementation of quotes in accordance with company financial targets;
  • Meeting company’s benchmark for % of quote to job conversion rate;
  • Ensuring all projects are completed according to contract specifications efficiently and under budget;
  • Meet the target of Gross Profitability Margin (GPM) for assigned projects;
  • Ensures cost effective procurement and project management;
  • Ensure efficient operation of all on site works incl. provision of resources, sub-contractors, staffing requirements;
  • WH&S implementation and management with a specific emphasis on ensuring a safety focused culture
  • Onsite supervision and project management of the team to ensure that construction works are completed to a high standard and in-line with contract specification;
  • Liaising with the client, company peers and report to Total Ocean Care’s management to ensure both the client and the company’s requirements are delivered, monitored, documented and reported consistently and to a superior level of proficiency.
  • Report progress of projects to management
  • Concept drawings for engineer’s briefs
  • Working with our engineers, technicians and trades people
  • Preparation of tender/quote submissions
  • Contract negotiation both on a client and sub-contractor level
  • Plan all construction operations and scheduling to ensure deadlines are met

ESSENTIAL:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in  Marine/Civil/Landscaping Construction
  • Previous experience as an Estimator in related industries
  • Experience with estimating, assisting with the tender processes and producing high quality, well written and professional proposals – Advantageous
  • Pricing skills (ideally prior on ground experience)
  • Quantity surveying and take-off skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans
  • Experience in building & pricing Bill of Quantities – advantageous
  • Experience with estimating software packages – advantageous
  • Ability to assess construction risks and price accordingly
  • Previous experience in the maritime field is an advantage
  • Trade Qualification
  • Be a leader with strong management and communication skills
  • Implement, review, and ensure crew compliance with Safety Management System, company procedures and legislation.
  • Experience working around heavy machinery and on a barge
  • Experience and confidence working with power and hand tools
  • Good knowledge of WH&S
  • WHS White card
  • Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Computer literacy, competency with MS Office Packages

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience with Crane operation
  • MED3
  • Coxwains or Master 5 or above qualification
  • Provide safe and efficient operation of the barge
  • Landscaping/building licence
